It depicts Amanda, a simple and popular figure who since childhood has the gift of seeing the present, the past, and future of people she knows and others she has never seen before. Her gift provokes the interest, but also the fear of psychologists, journalists, friends, and relatives. All are amazed by Amanda's exceptional paranormal experiences. These experiences are considered "normal" within the Caribbean religious environment, but would be seen as an example of magic realism from outside the area.
